Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers state they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a man discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The substance had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then found multiple other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations outlawing the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis suggest the liquid was probably human blood.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; officials are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the community for details.
A high-ranking political figure said the attack left him stunned and needed to be resolved promptly.
"This act hits the core of Hanau and reopens the trauma of the extremist attack five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a gunman targeting residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
