A person who spiked candy with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has confessed to sexual crimes against two young males both between nine and ten.
The defendant was arrested after eight youngsters and an older person became sick at the location in July.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the courthouse on the end of the week.
However, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was accused of, which was involving a young boy.
The defendant was held in detention ahead of a subsequent court date on late November.
'Treat game'
Mary Prior KC, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
The man engaged in a "treat game" with the children, the prosecutor said, in which he would go into the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had engaged in this activity with the children "over an extended period", and children had earlier experienced illness the following morning.
She said the man had been capable of justifying this over a long period as the youngsters being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had concerns in summer 2025.
The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his stepson had suspicions about the activities, justifiably.
"They chose" to investigate in the man's possessions."
The legal counsel stated materials including lubricant, ointment and medical needles were discovered, and his stepson notified the police about his suspicions.
She stated the defendant continued to engage in the "treat game" with six children that time - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not responded by that time," she added.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was examining law enforcement's management of the events.
The legal representative stated the children were having difficulty walking due to their sickness, so the stepson contacted the authorities once more.
She stated the man then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
